Misiones de Kino Restaurant Bar
Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
According to owner Israel Vazquez Sanchez, Misiones de Kino is ”Where Mexico and Little Italy meet for a true culinary experience,” adding that, ”We have dedicated our Restaurant Bar in honor of Padre Eusebio Francisco Kino (August 1645 – March 1711) who was a priest from a town in what is now northern Italy.” For the last 24 years of his life, Father Kino worked in the region then known as the Pimaria Alta in modern day Sonora, Mexico and southern Arizona. By the time of his death Father Kino had established 24 missions and visitas (country chapels or visiting stations) in Baja California after leading an expedition that established proof that Baja California was a region and not an island.
Misiones de Kino Restaurant Bar specializes in authentic Mexican, seafood dishes and exquisite Italian cuisine. Misiones de Kino offers both outside seating under the stars in our lush garden oasis, and indoor seating in a traditional rustic Mexican Palapa. Israel came to Cabo San Lucas in 1996 from a small Mexican village in Veracruz, to pursue his vision to unite Mexican, Italian and seafood dishes together to create a unique culinary experience. Misiones de Kino was one of the first to offer to fisherman the option of bringing in their fresh caught fish, and have it prepared with 6 to 8 different ways when Cabo was just a small quiet fishing village. The divine creation that is smothered over fresh seafood, chicken and pasta, is a secret sauce Misiones de Kino is well-known for. ”Israel’s Secret Garlic Sauce” is a bold and daring mixture of garlic, chili, and herbs in a delicate white sauce. Misiones is also the only place in town offers tequila straight from the wood barrel, as tequila was meant to be enjoyed.
The Misiones del Kilo soup entrees include tasty Tortillia, Shrimp, Chicken and Seafood flavors. Recommended delicious items include their chicken, shrimp and combination Shishkabobs along with baked Rigatoni, Risotto con Pollo (Chicken), Lamb Ravioli, Garlic Scampi, and the delectable Seafood Pattanese. Misiones also serves a most delicious scallops and lobster.
