Plaza Amelia Wilkes

Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, México

Plaza Amelia Wilkes is a quaint plaza with beautiful gardens located in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur. It owes its name to the famous Cabeña Amelia Wilkes Ceseña, who gave her life to the strengthening of the roots and history as “cabeños”, a Cabo San Lucas native.

Update August 2019 – Plaza Amelia Wilkes is being remodeled. Construction is now underway.

It has lush trees, flowers, places to sit and enjoy the afternoon with family, couple, etc. In this same park is located the Museum of Natural History of Cabo San Lucas, great attraction of the city that works to conserve and to spread the roots of the Sudcalifornianos.

The Amelia Wilkes Plaza is available to everyone who wants to visit and enjoy every day of the year, it is a public space made especially for the enjoyment of all the locals and tourists. If you are lucky you will enjoy the traditional Kermess made by some groups from Cabo San Lucas where you can enjoy delicious Mexican food, typical choyera food (this is how the locals of Los Cabos are known) and lots of fun.

Across the street from Amelia Wilkes Square you will find the very famous Parroquia de San Lucas Evangelista, or Church of St. Luke the Evangelist. This is the main Catholic church in the town that has a mass on Sunday in English at 12 noon.
