Chin’s Cabo Chinese Restaurant
The Shoppes at Palmilla, Tourist Corridor, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Los Cabos has it’s share of Chinese Restaurants, but there is one that stands above the rest and that is Chin’s and it is located in the Shoppes at Palmilla Plaza a few miles south of San Jose del Cabo. I love Chinese food because there are so many different styles to choose from and Chin’s presents theirs in a Szechuan style. There are two different dining areas to choose from, you can dine outside which has a beautiful view of the Sea of Cortez or you can dine inside in the comfort of A/C during the periods of time in Cabo when it is hot and humid.
The one thing that Chin’s does that other Chinese restaurants do not do is take it to another level, to put it simply, Chin’s is gourmet Chinese. Starting with appetizers, they have a lot of the traditional appetizers to choose from, but my suggestion is to go with the Combination Plate which is perfect for a family of four. It consists of 4 shrimp puffs which is minced shrimp, cream cheese a touch of curry in a wonton skin, 4 crab wontons stuffed with crab, shrimp, chicken and cream cheese with home made curry, habanero and cilantro, 4 deep fried shrimp and 2 egg rolls
that are cut in half so everyone gets a piece. A perfect way to start your evening.
POULTRY
The Crispy Chicken Szechuan style is prepared with bell peppers, celery, carrots and sliced onion and tossed in the wok with a sweet and spicy sauce. Spicy Chicken, served with celery, onion, water chestnuts, green onions, peanuts and red chili peppers tossed in the wok in a spicy sauce. This is my favorite chicken dish with just enough spice and heat, delicious! Orange Chicken with onion, green onion, red chili pepper served in an orange sauce. Curry Chicken with water chestnuts, onion, chili peppers, broccoli with a curry sauce. The Peking Duck is traditional style from Beijing served in a crepe and this does require a 24 hour advance notice. Chin’s is the only place I know of in Cabo that serves this dish.
SEAFOOD
Spicy Pineapple Glazed Shrimp is a Spicy shrimp served in a special sauce. Walnut shrimp, lightly battered shrimp tossed in a special house mayo sauce that tastes nothing like mayo served over organic lettuce and pieces of walnuts $315 pesos. This is my favorite shrimp dish, the shrimp are cooked to perfection, yummy! Sizzling Seafood Combination, which is a combination of shrimp, squid, fish, onion and lettuce served with a special house sauce on a sizzling platter.
BEEF AND PORK
Spicy Chin’s Beef is served with celery, onion, water chestnuts, green onion, peanuts and red peppers stir fried in the wok with a spicy sauce. Beef and Broccoli is served in an oyster sauce. The Mongolian Beef is served with green scallion onion, tossed in the wok in a special sauce and served over a bed of crispy rice noodles. Chin’s also serves Sweet and Sour Pork, everyone’s old time favorite.
Lets talk about side dishes. You cannot go to a Chinese restaurant and not have rice with your dinner. They have six different styles of fried rice and the combination which has everything you love in it.
You can never go wrong vegetables and Chin’s serves in-season sautéed vegetables. If you would like to add a protein to the mix, there are options to add beef, chicken, shrimp, or BBQ pork. They also offer the option for a combination of protein choices.
Chin’s Restaurant is open 7 days a week and the hours are from 12:30 pm to 10:30pm. I highly recommend that you make a reservation not only for the time, but also for the location in which you would like to sit and their phone number in Cabo is (624) 144-6060. The staff and the manager Hector are extremely friendly and helpful. Just so you do not have to ask, when you enter the inside dining, there are two large neon scripts of Chinese on the wall and not knowing how to read Chinese, I asked them what they stood for and the answer was very simple, Happy and Happy and you will be not only be while you are dining, but at the end of your meal. Please enjoy your time in Chin’s and in the Los Cabos area. Tell them that Bobo recommended you visit their restaurant.
